Sometimes people just do way to much with their design. Way to much!

I think this restaurant/lounge is a great example, that proves my point. You might not agree, but I think most of you guys would share my point of view!
This is basically Urban Interior. This extravagant sake bar and lounge is located in a famous shopping district in Tokyo. To be more precise in Omotesando which is in the hip and trendy Harajuku neighborhood. Harajuku is know to be the spot to be if you like observing unique clothing styles.
The lounge which is created as a student project at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, looks like it´s been swallowed by the monster of poppy colors and strange shapes!
“The wide-open layout and opulent interiors of Urban Interiorites without a doubt captures the imagination of any passersby immediately. The building pushes boundaries and challenges viewers to become completely immersed within the restaurant’s impressive environment where shapes and structural forms appear both novel and familiar to the eye at the same time.” Quote and idéa is from ChicTip!!

It is very Tokyo looking though. Kitsch, colourful and over the top. It does look like the extravagence would give you a head ache though. The designer could have used this opulence but against a backdrop of plain bones so that it didn’t look so conflicting. However, without designs like these architecture would be a bit boring… Im all for a little bit of weirdness being thrown into the mix every now and then.
Holy mackerel. That design is really eye-popping! Are these your pics? They’re fantastic.
I know!! extremely eye-popping! These are unfortunately not my pictures, found them at: http://www.chictip.com/hotels/restaurant-design-urban-interiorites-by-ali-rahim-tiffany-dahlen-and-virginia-melnyk
gosh! looked very cute! so, is it still design or in a real world? hmmm
Absolutely fantastic building and interior.
Not quite sure how I would cope with it after a couple of drinks though.
I love it when people are prepared to push the conventional boundaries in architecture.
Wow, I’ve never seen anything like this before. Not sure how I feel about it, aside from being totally overwhelmed.
The outside looks like the inside of a pomegranate. The inside looks like a set from 1966′s Fantastic Voyage, where miniaturized scientists journeyed through the human body. Not sure if I want to eat raw fish in these surroundings.

I’d like to say that I wouldn’t go here but I’d be lying…I’d want to see what its like inside….

I somehow just love this photo! I think it’s the light and the variation of the softness….
Glad I’m 63 … because if restuarants are going to look like this in the future – I will stay at inside my room at “the home”. Terrible!!!!
wow … totally over the top, but there’s something very appealing about it … a new lounge for the space age set.
very nice, but I feel like after a while my eyes would hurt from being there! lol
Unreal! I seriously love it:) Where d’ya get these gorgeous piccies from? Wonder who keeps the place clean? Can you imagine it? Aaarrrgghhhh!!!
