Kalkin´s container houses!

7 Apr

You all know how i love unique design/architecture, when someone uses something normal and changes it to something brilliant! The architect Adam Kalkin, took an ordinary shipping container and made beautiful houses out of it.

“The beautiful home stretches the boundaries of modern design and is truly a work of art.  It was created by stacking a dozen orange “reclaimed” shipping containers in a T-shape while replacing some of the steel pannels with large windows looking out over the rocky peninsula to Blue Hill Bay. ”

It´s possible to rent the “containers” for $6000-$10000 a week. I just LOVE  the playfulness of the spaces.  It feels as if they really were houses and courtyard. There are so many details to catch your eye! Amazing!

Quotes and some of the pictures are from: Jetson Green , Waveavenue and from

Architecture and hygiene : Adam Kalkin´s firm responsible for all this cool stuff!!

this is something for me … love everything about it. We have a seasonal restaurant here in Landskrona that’s really only 2 shipping containers plus a beautiful conservatory – so when the season over the just close them up – take the conservatory apart and move it all.

What an incredible design…! Grown-ups building with blocks like children… so cool…! makes me wish I had the funds to build a house like that… maybe one day…
